NON-TRADITIONAL DFW WEDDING VENUES

Happy Wednesday! If you are one of those couples that are looking to have a ceremony somewhere that is a little out of the box and are having some trouble finding a venue, we hope this helps spark some ideas!

If you are in the DFW area, there are many unique places to have your wedding but to start, you have to think about what the venue would mean to you.

1. Is there a place that holds a certain significance for you as a couple?

For example, the spot where you first met, had your first kiss, exchanged your first "I love you" or a spot simply spent a lot of time. Reflect on that location. Is it your alma matter? A spot by White Rock Lake or Katy Trail? Was it on a hike through Grapevine Lake or in a field somewhere?

2. Is there a certain hobby you share that could involve a potential venue?

We recently coordinated a wedding at House of Blues, a venue that celebrated their love for music, and it turned out to be an incredibly beautiful and unique wedding(read all about it here!!).  Some other hobby-related venues could include: a baseball stadium, golf course, library, a race track, campground, a museum or art gallery, a brewery, a coffee house, an amusement park, or perhaps a comic book store?

3. If you are looking for an outdoor location but something that is not your typical Fort Worth Botanical Garden or Dallas Arboretum, try a historical site.

The DFW area has a long list of interesting historical buildings, museums, and parks that provide the perfect scenic backdrop for your ceremony.

Now that we got you thinking, here are three examples of wedding venues around Dallas that coincide with some venues previously suggested.

Day of the Dead Wedding Inspiration

The Day of the Dead is a wickedly popular Mexican holiday.  It is a day that honors fallen friends and family members but this day of celebration also reminds us that love never dies.

Skulls, a common symbol for this holiday, can be seen in all aspects of decoration, from invitations to cake toppers. Rich jewel tones like wine, tangerine, and marigold accented with pink and turquoise keep this fiesta on its toes!

Love lives forever so let us celebrate the union of two souls with some Day of the Dead Inspiration!

Five Tips to Shake Off those Wedding Day Nerves!

Have a case of Wedding Day Nerves? Trust us, you are not alone. It is totally normal to be nervous or stressed out on your big day but don't worry. In fact, that is the last thing you should be doing right now because we have five tips and tricks to help you shake off those nerves!

1. Surround Yourself with a Positive Posse!

Positivity is key to making your nerves disappear. Not only should you surround yourself with those that will lift you out of your anxiousness but you, yourself, should try to remain in an upbeat state of mind as well. Today is the first day of the rest of your lives together. This is a day to celebrate love, joy and your story- not a day to be a bundled ball of nerves or high-stress! Smile, be happy, let go of any worries about the wedding you have, and enjoy the day you have been dreaming of since you were a little girl!

2. Just Breathe!

Each time you feel those nerves creeping up, close your eyes, and take a few deep breathes. Try to visualize the one that will meet you at the end of the aisle, the one that will be holding your hand every day for the rest of your life. If you are having a hard time relaxing, set up some pampering on the morning of! A mani and pedi will always make a good day, better!

3. Don't Sweat the Small Stuff!

This is a day celebrating your love story! Try not to get caught up in the details of your wedding the day of. This day is specifically for you two, not for everyone in attendance. Trust that those who are helping you decorate and set up, will work wonders. Enjoy the time getting ready with your bridal party and not micro-managing the set-up.

4. Dance Those Jitters Away!

When doesn't a dance party make any day brighter? If you are nervous in your bridal suite, crank up the tunes and let loose with your girls. Laugh, be silly, be yourself and shake off those nerves!

5. Sneak Peek!

Our last tip is that if you are certain that you will need some calming and only your S.O. can do the job, opt for a "first look" shoot. This will allow you to share an intimate moment together and provide some time for comforting.

We hope these tips and tricks helped to ease your nerves! Let us know if you used any of these on your big day!
