Since we’re not in the business of reinventing the wheel, today we’re bringing back some of our favorites Fall blog posts. Enjoy!

COLOR PALETTE

Deciding on color combinations can be one of the most challenging parts of planning a wedding. We love bright and cheerful, spring or summer colors accented throughout a wedding because it takes this already joy-filled event up a notch. However, as we enter into the fall season, color schemes change…If you want a crisp, fall wedding but still want some of those cheery pops of color, fear not! We have some new ways to extend those fun colors that we love so much.

FEATURED ON THE PERFECT PALETTE

We are so excited to share our Autumnal Bohemian Editorial! This past fall, we ventured out into Oak Cliff to find the perfect tree-filled grove and setup a dreamy scene for the bohemian bride in all of us. We chose super saturated tones like emerald, navy, and amber and accented with matte black and brass.

INSPIRED BY | VELVET

We delved into our favorite fall moments of the season last week, but there was one trend we couldn’t get over! That’s right, velvet is trending and we’re more than happy to get on board with this smooth and sophisticated look. You’ve probably seen it all over the wedding blogosphere, and it may have seemed a little intimidating. We get it velvet doesn’t necessarily scream wedding and it’s popular, but not so popular that you’ve seen it done IRL. Well, today we’re here to demystify because velvet can be incorporated into nearly any wedding element you want, big or small.

Ring Boxes

This one’s small, but can make a big impact. I’m sure you’re asking why the hell do I need a velvet ring box? For the only thing that matters, pictures! *just kidding* But, velvet ring boxes do add a certain amount of luxe into any detail shot. Your photographer will love it and you can keep it as a delicate little keepsake.

Bridesmaids Dresses

Give your girls the gift of feeling cozy and looking cool in velvet bridesmaid dresses. Aside from looking oh so classic, these dresses are perfect for playing into your specific aesthetic. They’re edgy and outside-of-the-box, but subtle enough that they won’t make you cringe when you look back at pictures in 10 years.

Groom and Groomsmen Attire

Velvet on grooms and groomsmen are one of my favorite way to feature the trend. Many grooms struggle to find a way to distinguish their style from the groomsmen. Think about it, you’re wearing a floor-length white gown and you’re groom is looking handsome (of course!) in a suit that’s similar if not identical to the rest of his groomsmen. With an eye-catching velvet suit jacket or bow-tie/suspender set, he can stand out all on his own.

Bridal Accessories

Small wardrobes touches are an option as well. Your something blue can be velvet too, same with other bridal accessories like a vintage-inspired stole. A velvet stole also sells a Fall/Winter theme, so you’re hitting two birds with one fashionable stone.

Now I have to admit, these are probably the least cost-effective options, but boy are they pretty! Velvet table numbers may go largely unnoticed by guests and may be expensive, but the little details are what sell the look. The same can’t be said for velvet Vow books though, guests may never get to see these additions, but they’ll beautiful and sentimental keepsake to pull out every anniversary.

Shopping Seasonally is a great way to add a touch of nature without breaking your budget. Use Fall's sophisticated red and vibrant yellows to capture the warmth and beauty of the season. Pair these shades with romantic lighting and you've got a truly magical experience for guests to enjoy. But, with so many options, we know it can get a little complicated. So, check out our cheat sheet to effortless Fall florals below.

Pro Tip 1: In-Season Is The Best Season: No bride wants to find out the flowers she's been dreaming of since childhood aren't available for her big day. Skip the disappointment (and cost!) by selecting flowers that are in season.  Picking out of season flowers could mean paying upwards of 50% more and totally blowing your budget.

The Go To Flowers for Fall [in order of appearance] are:

  • Camellias - known for their soft and round shape these delicate flowers are beautifully paired with other flowers
  • Hydrangeas -these bushy and festive flowers are an excellent accent to any bouquet.
  • Delphiniums - This country flower adds the perfect  height to any arrangement. it's elegant stem, speckled with vibrant color helps pull any piece to completion.
  • Sunflowers - A classic and whimsical flower, bursting with color, these beauties will add a touch of unexpected 'WOW'.
  • If you're looking for fun shapes and a classic look: Orchids, Cala Lillies & Billy Ball's are what's going to set your arrangements apart.

Pro Tip 2: Focus on a Hue...or Two...or Four - If you're having trouble finding a place to start with your floral selection, trying picking a singular color OR if you're feeling bold, pick a bunch of colors in both neutral and bold shades.

Pro Tip #3: Use Every Flower in Every Way - Let no flower go wasted. Bring those bright oranges and inspiring reds into centerpieces, boutonnieres, and your ceremony space. Throw in some pumpkins or candles, and you'll blow your guests away with all that Autumn charm.

Pro Tip #4: Dabble Beyond Flowers - Arguably the best part of Fall weddings is that you can incorporate aspects of nature beyond flowers. Consider lining your aisle with crisp, ombre leaves and acorns or using a wood stump as a cake stand.
